|
| There is a healing fracture of the 'splint' bone present in this horse.
Fractures of the splint bones are a common kick injury in horses. Generally
speaking the higher up the leg the fracture the more serious the condition.
Surgery is sometimes useful to remove fragments or unstable parts of the
bone. However patience and rest is often rewarded with good healing. |

|
| This horse has also had a kick injury recently. The kick to the lateral
trochlear ridge of the hock has resulted in a small fracture and an open
wound into the hock joint. The fragment was removed at Pool House Equine
Clinic and the joint lavaged (flushed with sterile saline) - enabling the
horse to return to work. |
