Crown Inn Farm
Crown Inn Farm

For over four centuries horses have worked the fields around Crown Inn Farm, Fradley. In September of 2004 Pool House Veterinary Group acquired the farm and the surrounding 12 acres of land. After receiving planning consent from Lichfield District Council work commenced in Oct 2004 to create a modern clinic dedicated exclusively to the care of horses. Old redundant farm buildings were carefully restored using the original materials to provide a pleasant environment for the treatment of our many equine patients.
Pool House Equine Clinic opened in March 2005 when our seven vet. strong equine team transferred from our previous location in Longdon after 12 successful years.

The Equine Clinic has over 5,500 clients in the Staffordshire and South Derbyshire areas. The new facility will provide all routine Equine treatment such as vaccination and dentistry, as well as more advanced therapy and surgery.

The new Equine Clinic provides:

  • Dedicated equine operating suite.

Equine Operating Suite

The spacious operating theatre has thermostatically controlled heating, emergency lighting circuits in case of power failure, an overhead gantry and winch and a small viewing gallery. Anaesthetic equipment includes ECG, invasive blood pressure monitoring and pulse oximetry. The adjacent recovery room can be monitored by closed circuit television from the veterinary surgeons' office.

  • A separate Equine Fertility Unit for natural service and for AI with both chilled and frozen semen.

Equine fertility stocks

The dedicated Equine fertility clinic has stocks specially made by a local craftsman designed so mares can be restrained safely during examinations. Thick padding on the internal aspects reduces any risk of injury. The fertility clinic is managed by Noelle Lowry B.Vet.Med., M.R.C.V.S.

  • Two examination rooms.
  • A client refreshment room.
  • An outdoors floodlit ménage.

office accommodation

A derelict farm building has been restored to provide a comfortable waiting area and office space for our team of specialist equine receptionists.

  • Some of our patients don't want to leave! As a result we have installed a loading ramp to ensure that they can get onto their transport with the minimum of stress.
