Meet the Staff

Colin Astbury Equine Technician Colin has worked for the Equine Clinic for over 15 years. He has tremendous experience in the equine world having been a professional national hunt jockey for many years. Before joining our team Colin was a stud manager and has also been an assistant trainer on a number of big training yards. Colin assists with endoscoping, scanning and digital radiography.
Jackie Cook Yard Manager Jackie is our yard manager she is responsible for the day to day care of all our inpatients. She has had many years of experience working in the equine industry, including at the National Foal bank. She is particularly experienced with dealing with problem mares and difficult horses – but most likes caring for sick foals. Jackie is pictured with one of our most famous patients – can you guess the identity of the horse?
Mary Buxton Morning Stables Mary rises with the dawn chorus every day to ensure the inpatients are all fed and watered before the rest of us arrive at work.
Mel Banks Evening stables (and everything else). Mel is in charge of the evening stables making sure that each horse has the correct feed and will be comfortable overnight. He is multi talented and turns his hand to any job that needs doing. From repairing leaky central heating pipes to planting trees Mel is not daunted by any task.
